About me
I am a documentary photographer with a keen interest in socially sensitive subjects and issues that do not generate extensive media coverage. For me, photography is the ideal medium to assign visibility to the ‘socially invisible’. I have always been fascinated and intrigued by the 'invisible' groups of people in our society, and I use photography to explore this fascination.
One of my biggest assets is my ability to approach and communicate with people, even in their most private and most personal moments. I can place a certain amount of trust in people, which I think is of vital importance for the kind of photography I do.
As a documentary photographer, I do not regard reality as a dogma but as a starting point. Staging scenes without losing the authenticity of the idea I want to communicate is not paradoxical to me.
Painting inspires me even more than photography. I love the ungraspable, auratic nature of paintings and I strive to infuse this quality into my photography.
